Harper Adams lecturer chairs Harvard agri-business conference
Posted 13 February 2015
Dr Daniel May, Lecturer in Applied Farm and Rural Economics, recently travelled to the USA after being invited to take the role of chairman of the Second Annual Conference of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness at Harvard University
He said: “Delegates from different countries across the world presented outstanding contributions related to the topics of Agribusiness Analysis (Macro and Micro Perspectives), Agricultural Economics (Case Studies from Different Countries), Economics and Business of Farming, and Government Policy Analysis.
“The contributions were useful to learn about the particular economic and cultural dimension that characterises the rural sector in different countries, and to contextualise the research that has been developed in single countries.”
Dr May presented the article “Can economic collaboration leads to farmers' satisfaction at work? Some preliminary results”, which was developed in partnership with Chilean staff at University of Diego Portales.
As a result of the conference, Dr May has expanded his network of researchers, with potential for the development of relevant research in the area of farmers’ strategic behaviour from a cross-cultural perspective.
